submeat's top 100 tracks of 2003: songs to download and love

#94 "Hot In Herre," Tiga (!K7)
You can have the good, but overrated Fischerspooner; for me, the true star of electroclash this past year was Tiga. Not only was his collaboration with Richard X sublime, his own DJ Kicks record is one of 2003's finest compilations, let alone mixes. And then out of nowhere came this brilliantly subversive, deadpan cover of Nelly's smash, which surprisingly proves that it's a well-written song. It also proves that Tiga's a hell of a lot more interesting than Nelly. What would a Tiga-Neptunes collabo sound like, I wonder? [Also one of the videos of the year. Puppets = funny.]
