bill laswell is one of my ultimate musical heroes and inspirations. the oldest email account I have includes the word "submeta," and he's the reason (it's one of his labels, which he'd just recently started up at the time, back in the '90s). there's really precious little-to-nothing he can't do, or hasn't done, musically. he's worked with everyone from lydon and bambaataa to jali kunda and jah wobble to bootsy motherfucking collins and current g'nr guitar-slinger buckethead. david toop, meanwhile, writes like dreams (have you read ocean of sound? please do; you'll thank me later). back in '94, the two minds met for the wire.
