Pharrell featuring Kanye West - "Number One"

And it took it this long for the world to be blessed with this sure-shot truth-in-advertising why, exactly? Notes:

1. Pharrell: please sing more and rap less.
2. Kanye: more drop-in verses on other people's records, please.
3. Pharrell: glad to know you've held back some good stuff for your own album, since "Can I Have It Like That" didn't exactly make me feel confident of that.

This is the great lost Michael Jackson hit. This is summer. (By my count, this makes the 4th great summer jam of '06, along with Christina's "Ain't No Other Way" (horny horns indeed! - and how nice to have Primo back in the hitmaking stratosphere), Beyoncé & Jay-Z's "Deja Vu" (Swizz Beats back as well) and of course the summer jam before which all other candidates will bow and supplicate themselves, Nelly F. & Timbo's "Promiscuous"). Funny innit, that these are all showcases of great, yet mostly subtle, production?

Comments:
i actually can't get with the Neptunes/Pharrell R&B stuff. as much as their hip hop beats mystify me each and every time, their lighter stuff just leave me cold. so, no on his singing if it means i can't enjoy his rapping (which i actually do like).
